Mugo Kibati is a distinguished Kenyan business leader, strategist, and public policy expert with a career spanning both the private and public sectors. He is widely recognized for his visionary leadership in corporate governance, national development planning, and innovation.
Mugo Kibati brings to EGS’s Advisory Committee a wealth of experience in corporate leadership, national development strategy, and innovation. His track record of excellence and recognition as a transformative leader makes him a valuable addition to our governance and strategic direction.
Mr. Kibati currently serves as the Group CEO of Telkom Kenya, where he has overseen major transformations in the telecommunications sector. He previously held senior leadership roles including as CEO of East African Cables, a publicly listed company. His career also includes senior positions at Bamburi Cement and McKinsey & Company.
Beyond corporate leadership, Mr. Kibati has played a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s economic and social agenda. As Director General of Vision 2030, he was instrumental in driving flagship projects across infrastructure, health, education, and governance, positioning Kenya as a regional hub for growth and innovation. In 2026, Mugo Kibati has been appointed by President William Ruto to spearhead the development of Kenya’s long-term national framework, Vision 2060, building on the successes and lessons of Vision 2030. This appointment positions him at the center of shaping Kenya’s economic, social, and political trajectory for the next three decades.
